Performance

One of the things that PING is best known for is making easy to hit irons, so when they say that the G710 is their longest and most forgiving, that's saying a lot. Due to high-density tungsten weights at the heel and the toe, the MOI is 5% lower than the G700 irons.

I experienced the exact same results in my G710 testing: I observed long shots landing within a tight circle. These irons have plenty of ball speed, launch easily, and carry adequate spin to hold a green. If you're tired of distance irons that do nothing but fire knee-high rockets and knuckleballs, the G710 irons are the antidote. While I did not lose my landing angle, I bought a club to distance.

More than any other club in the set, the 4-iron really impressed me. Because I'm a low-launching player, it is difficult to achieve enough consistency and distance with long irons. The G710 4I was able to get the ball into a manageable window and carry a lot. It also landed softly.

As has become their norm, PING is offering a boatload of shaft options standard on the G710. PING Alta Distanza has been their lightest, (43g), and highest-launching steel shaft. Two other PING shafts are available, including one from Nippon.

Each set of PING G710 Irons includes Arccos Caddie Smart Grip. Each shot can be tracked by the sensor, which is embedded in the grips of irons. PING provides one-year free Arccos Caddie to all customers. If you buy six or more irons from PING, you get eight extra Arccos Sensors so that you can collect data from each club.

Verdict: Ping G710 Iron

These G710s, which are high-handicap models of irons with high handicaps, look amazing. It's a unique design that isn’t often found in this market, with its hollow body and quick face construction.

The G710 was the second most effective iron to protect carry distance drop-off in our Best 2021 High Handicap Iron Test. It's also a great way to inspire confidence in the ball with the covertly darkened finish.

From a weaker loft than many, it's unfair to expect the G710 to produce the very longest carry distances for our pro. However, distances are unlikely to edge out at normal speeds as we've seen. Arccos shottrackers, which are standard on the G710's grip, should also be mentioned. As well as showing valuable data about your own game, Ping will use the stats to influence future club designs and fittings. Very clever stuff.

BUY NOW Set: 4-PW, UW, SW Our take: Generous tungsten weights positioned in the heel and toe of the 17-4 stainless- steel body deliver an abundance of forgiveness. The hollow-body design pairs well with a maraging iron face for increased ball speed.

ClubTester's 12-hdcp take: "Darken finish masks some beef. "I could look at this iron all day."

Robot's opinion: One of most forgiving irons in this class.

Irons review: Ping G710 Irons: The Most Reliable Ping Irons?

Brandon Ping's exceptional range of clubs is what makes them so well-known. In 2018, they introduced the 7 Series with the Ping G700s. G700 was the original iron set. It is a highly forgiving iron set, which produces a natural high trajectory with excellent distance and outstanding performance. Ping has since released their G710 irons in 2020, and the results are impressive. These irons include a few small improvements as well as high-tech technology features that aren’t available in other iron sets.

G710 irons make a great game improvement tool. They have a unique look with a black hydropearl finish and are oversized enough to fill you with confidence as you stand over your iron shots. They provide great ball speed and length off the face. Off-center shots aren't heavily penalized, and if you struggle to get the ball on a good trajectory, these have a low CG to propel your ball higher in the air.

These irons are packed with technology. You can maximize your course performance with these irons because they have a flexible thickness, high lofts, large sweet spots, and strong lofts. The club's finish doesn't only look nice, but it also reduces the glare. It's both beautiful and very sound. We would not expect anything less from a Ping Iron set.
