Taylormade’s Tp5 Golf Ball: Initial Impressions
Cosmetically, the Taylor TP5/TP5X has no noticeable differences from other tour ball levels. The dimple patterns, text, and numbering are all pretty standard. The box states that they are the “MOST COMPLETE Tour Ball”.
This statement doesn’t reflect their looks, but the way they were made.

The “5” symbol in TP5 stands for the number of layers within the ball. It is made up of two layers (cover and core) that create progressive levels of compression. The packaging contains additional technical jargon such as “Tri-Fast Core”, “Dual-Spin Cover”, and “Maximum Energy Transfer” (lest we not forget, Taylormade is the master of naming their new technologies, hello Twist. Both of these golf balls are great and will appeal to any amateur golfer who is playing similar tours.

Taylormade Tp5 Golf ball Final thoughts
According to me, the hype over the TP5X/TP5X is justifiable.
Although they cost at least $45 per dozen like a professional tour ball, the price is still a lot lower than that of a Pro. Taylormade’s Tour Ball has V1s that are at minimum on par with the best.
The TP5x and TP5x felt great and played as they were supposed to from tee-to-green. I did not feel like I had been lacking when I compared it to other tour balls.
If a golfer plays the proper ball, they can expect higher ball speeds, greater carry distances, improved performance in wind and better control around greens.
Although the TP5X is my preferred ball, I would recommend doing a similar evaluation to find which ball is best suited for you.
Vice Pro Plus balls would also suit your needs if you are interested in the TP5.
However, it has much better performance than the original but costs less.
Taylormade 2021: Tp5X and Tp5X Reviews of Golf Balls
Tommy Fleetwood signed with TaylorMade when the most surprising thing for him was the performance of their ball. Sergio Garcia told him that although he was still with TaylorMade (although he has re-joined) at the time, he wasn’t actually there.
The ball performed exceptionally at the 2019 Ryder Cup. Many European golfers were also pleased with the performance of the ball. After the week in Paris Rickie Fowler decided to switch from the Pro V1 golf ball to the TP5x, a trend we’re seeing on Tour.
In 2019 a TaylorMade ball won five times on the PGA Tour, in 2020 that doubled with the TP5 range claiming two out of the three men’s majors played.
Ten years ago, there was no TaylorMade ball on Tour. Now every staff player (except Tiger), has the TP5/TP5x.

Indoor performance During my Trackman testing with the TP5x (which is the ball I am most likely to use), there was really not much distance between the 2019 model and the 2021 model.

How Does The Taylormade Tp5 Golf Balls Compare To Other Golf Balls?
It’s more common to see a ball class difference than between manufactures. Pro is what golfers consider the best. V1x and Pro. V1x has been referred to as the “golden standard” in golf balls. Many players however will consider Callaway’s Chrome Soft line and TaylorMade’s TP5 new lines the best.
Chrome Soft comes in at the shortest weight and is also the softest. The TP5 TP5x compares closely to the Titleist Pro. V1 Pro. V1 x, respectively. Bridgestone also produces the Bridgestone Tour B330S, and Tour B330S three-pieces. TaylorMade makes the ball with five layers, while TaylorMade has none.
Would I Use Them?
I would play the TP5x because the performance is just slightly better for my game, but also because I am used to that firmer cover as I like the feel of getting the ball to the hole on the greens.
Pix patterns are also very enjoyable.
The ball looks like it is sitting up in the fairway a lot more. It’s also easier to see when it’s playing alongside other players using plain white balls, which can be great for people who are a little too erratic off the tee.
Should I Play The Tp5 Or Tp5X Golf Ball?
The 2021 TP5 and TP5x offer complete tee-to-green performance thanks to Taylor. Made’s unique five-layer construction. The TP5 and TP5 deliver the best distance from the tee. However, the TP5 has a soft feel and is more spin-friendly around greens. It also achieves faster ball speeds thanks to a larger reactive core.
TP5x, the longest and fastest ball currently in Taylor’s lineup is TP5x. With a stronger feel and better launch on iron shots, the Made Line-up features a firmer feeling. In addition, it has more greenside spin than the prior generation with a new and softer cast urethane cover.

Taylormade – A Serious Player In The Golf Ball Market?
These rankings will depend on how you begin the count, and exactly what numbers you examine. TaylorMade could legitimately be said to be one of the fastest-growing balls brands in the last four years. TaylorMade is now in the middle of the market. Although that may seem a great distance from Titleist, TaylorMade does have some lower-cost options that are not as strong on the marketplace. Who doesn’t love Noodle? TaylorMade’s Tour level balls are the driving force behind the company’s growth. It makes perfect sense considering the strength and experience of its PGA TOUR staff.
If its premium balls sales begin to trickle down, TaylorMade could find itself as a serious contender for the No. There is a 2nd market position where it might be in a real race with Titleist.
At the moment, they are content with their steady growth and having Rickie Fowler, Rory, Colin Morikawa, and Rory playing the golf ball.
