Get it done with ease!
Assume you are standing on 18th tee, which is also a par 5, and that your second shot can be taken.
If you drive well, it will give you the chance to reach the green in 2 or 3 and even score an unlikely eagle. A short birdie putst can finish off the round, but it’s better than nothing.
It is important to note that the 10-yard line required for the tee shot cuts the corner, giving you the perfect angle in the hole.

This shot is impossible for most amateurs.
Each instruction tip and golf magazine makes the process too difficult for many. However, you can do it! You can improve your shotmaking skills by learning how to draw the ball, as I have written extensively. You’ll be able to curve the ball from left to right by the end of this article.
Why you need to love a draw
However, some people don’t like the idea of a draw, regardless of doing tons of research because cut players are the most common.
But a draw is especially nice to see because most everyday golfers don’t hit the shot. It’s amazing to see the ball take off right and bring it back to the middle of the fairway or attack a tucked left pin.
Draws are crisp, powerful and last forever. Longer clubs seem to make the ball stay in the air longer. Although some professionals prefer the power cut to be their preferred shot, many PGA Tour pros favor hitting a draw.
In other words, why not learn to draw?
There are two reasons. Roll out can be as far as 20 yards if the fairways are hard, like at the British Open.
It not only increases its distance, but it also rolls further. The top spin of draws is higher and the balls roll further once they hit the ground. Your ability to hit the tee for a longer time will result in shorter club hits and lower score.
A draw also gives you more choice throughout the game.
How To Hit A Draw With Irons
Many of the steps for how to hit a draw with an iron are similar to those required for hitting a draw with your driver, but there are a couple swing thoughts that will help you differentiate between the two.
Focus on swing path: Since irons are shorter in length than the driver, they are easier to control. Because the club is shorter, your swing should be shorter. This will allow you to strike a draw with less effort and timing. Instead of manipulating the club with both your hands and arms, focus your attention on how you rotate back. If you are able to rotate backward, the club will move freely and can strike the inside.
Rotate but don’t Swing: A common way to swing the ball wrong is to not maintain your balance. The iron swing is very short so you need to ensure that you rotate against your trail leg. Return to the ball by rotating your lower body first allowing the club to move down and inside-to-out and then down your target line. You will be facing the target if iron clubs weigh more than you driver.
Avoid flipping your hands. While the steps necessary to strike a draw will help you avoid a slice or a mishap, most golfers still turn their heads at impact and close the eyes. Use your body to control rotation and squaring with the clubface.

A high draw is one of the prettiest shots in golf.
A fade is easier to manage, but a draw can be just as sexy. Anyone who’s played golf at one time or another has aspired to hit a draw. However, it is not easy to accomplish.
You need to ensure that the ball starts outside the target line. Then, it should take a gently turning at its tip and return to ground in the center. When you are swinging, make sure the clubface faces the same direction as the path of the club. This will help you hit a draw. This will give you the perfect right-to-left shot shape.
Although there are many ways of doing this, Daniel Carraher (our instructor) showed us how to get that draw. He also demonstrated two ways for high-handicappers and low-handicappers.
How to hit a draw in golf (and increase your distance)
The pursuit of a draw can be an endless quest for many golfers. This is something that they admire the pros’ ability to control, but struggle with when it comes to trying it out on the green.
This always surprises and confuses me. I have witnessed many golfers, with even very low handicaps complain of their fade.
Excessive left or right movement (e.g. slice or hook) is not recommended. Everybody knows of the player who shoots up the left treeline to get it in the right rough.
Learning how to hit a draw can make a big difference if you are an avid slicer, looking for the perfect draw.

Golf 101: How You Can Hit a Draw…The Easy Way
You will find the following big questions: “How do I gain 10 yards?” “How can I drive it like Tiger Woods?” “How do you fix your slice?” All these are huge questions that all golfers have tried to answer.
Every golfer, regardless of their skill level, asks me this question over and again: “How do you get a draw?” I can’t think of a better feeling for a beginner than to strike one straight and see the ball begin to fall gently to the side. It is almost a badge or honor.
If you do a search on YouTube you will find this question asked literally 1000’s of times with 1000’s of explanations from 1000’s of different players, teachers, fitters, etc.
It’s all about the “How To”, from the straightforward to the complex. However, after 25+ years of playing and having always won a draw, there is one way that I have found to be foolproof. And it was the one I learned the first day.
To hit a draw you have to learn to swing UNDER something. You cannot hit the inside of the ball swinging OVER something.
What is a Fade Shot?
A fade shot, a golf term, describes when the ball’s flight curves slightly to one side or another depending on what your dominant hand is.
Fading is a gentle curve, similar to the way a curveball looks in baseball. It doesn’t look like it will reach your target at first, but it will in the end. Sometimes they are intentionally done, like draws.
For a fade, you do the exact opposite. It will feel strange and not natural for most people. Your feet should be straight. Next, your shoulders and your hips will move to the left. The path of your swing should follow the lines of your feet and shoulders. The ball must be at the top of the court and not to far behind.
You can make your natural swing more effective and efficient by adapting it to the following simple configurations. This method for hitting a fade can feel awkward at first but once you start to see the results it will feel much easier.

This is the simplest way to hit a draw
View Larger Image Golfers come to me all the time wanting to learn how to draw the ball.
They recognize that they can hit the golf ball farther when they make a draw.
But before you start trying to learn how to work the ball, please also understand this fact: if you can hit the ball in one direction and be consistent in that direction, you can play great golf! If you only play the “stock” shot, you will find it easier to hit fairways and greens within regulation. To me, I always hit a draw. This is my default golf shot. I find it very difficult to fade. While I know how to hit a fade, it’s difficult for me and not something I do all the time.
You want to know how to draw the balls, but?
If you shoot right from the target, your shot will be successful
And curve left. You are hitting push draws. Stop reading, go play golf. For everyone else, let’s dig in.
To make your shots more straight, you can just adjust the clubface. With a slight draw, you will see your shots start to look closer to target if the clubface is closed a bit more at impact. My preferred feel is turning my left hand counter-clockwise (palm up) into impact, but there are many other possibilities you can find success with.
The solution to a shot that is starting too far from the target and doesn’t turn is simple. To get the shot pattern of choice, bring your clubface to square. If your starting shots well right of target, DO NOT try to change your swing path.
Let’s look at the shots that have just enough curve and start correctly. Your driver? First, make sure you check the impact location. It can help you drive more straight and faster if your driver moves it away from your heel.
In the assumption that impact location is not an issue, or this is not a driver problem, we must look at where the ball starts. If you’re only starting the ball a little right of target, but it curves right, that is a swing path issue. Look at the last paragraph of the section above for some fixes. If you’re hitting shots that start far right and then curve, start by fixing the clubface, then tweak your path if necessary.
If You Start Your Shots Left of The Target…
The ball should not be drawn. This would lead to a land known as pull-hooks.
You must aim your club face towards the goal at impact if you wish to draw draws. My preferred way to do this is by opening my clubface in the backswing. My preferred feeling is that my left arm is turning clockwise quickly and in the early stages of the swing. I want my shaft to be parallel with the ground so my toes or faces are up. This is how I like to feel. However, it’s possible to achieve other feelings. When you are satisfied that the ball has reached the target at the desired position, adjust the shot’s curvature. Refer to the above sections again for further guidance.
You have two options if you want your shots to curve left and right. Second, stop reading if you see a lot of curvature. If the ball hits the fairway from the left, it is best to improve your clubface and path. It is likely that your body uses the club path as a way to close the eyes because it does not know what else to do. If you have access to an impact bag (an old pillow can substitute, at low speed), make slow practice swings where you try to put the toe of the club into the bag. Although this is a huge overcorrection it can teach you how to close your clubface and not swing “over the top”.
