While adjustable fairway wood hosels are available from some manufacturers, Ping feels that adjustability for lie angle and loft is crucial to fitting the golfer correctly.

G425 Fairways include hosels with adjustable loft adjustment of up to 1.5deg, and lie angle adjustments up to 3.0deg.

Ping G425 Max Fairway Wood Review

Popularity of Ping Fairway Woods is increasing – and it's for good reasons! They are simply great clubs with a great combination of distance, forgiveness, and feel.

There are 3 fairway wooden models included with the G425 latest release. The Max is a great all-around option, while the LST has a low spin head and the SFT is draw biased. I'm a big proponent of the Max and SFT for the large majority of golfers that need lots of forgiveness and more height on their fairway wood shots. The Max fairway wood is recommended if you do not want to be draw biased.

This is my honest assessment of the Ping G425 max fairway woods. Ping no longer uses the "ribbed" design of their G series timbers. Honestly, I'm kinda glad. I enjoy the G425's smoother appearance. Instead of the ribbed pattern, Ping has gone with three small alignment dots to help make sure you are squaring the ball up at address.

At the bottom of your clubhead you will see weight placement. It is located low and at the back. This tells you that this is a lightweight, high-launching design. I love the black/grey combination.

Lastly, take a look at the shape of the sole. Ping has moved to a very flat sole with their fairway woods, which are far more forgiving on mishit shots. A more round sole will punish you if your shot misses the centre of the club face. With a flatter sole mishits shots will still fly reasonably well.

Let's be clear. I have not had any positive experiences with Ping G425 Max fairway golf woods. So, if you can, demo this club at your local range or at a "demo day" in the future. While you may think that the Max is the one for you, you may find that you like the LST or SFT far better for a wide variety of reasons.

In general, the Ping G425 Max is simply an awesome all-around fairway wood. The Ping G425 max was 10 yards faster than my 5+ year old Callaway model. I honestly think that if the Ping G425Max was in my bag, I'd choose the 4 Wood to have more consistent distance gaps.
