While adjustable fairway wood hosels are available from some manufacturers, Ping feels that adjustability for lie angle and loft is critical to fitting the golfers properly.

The G425 fairways have hosels which can be adjusted up to +/– 1.5deg loft or up to 3deg lie angle.

What are the differences between G425 Fairway Wood shaft options?

Ping G425 Max Fairway Wood Review

Popularity of Ping Fairway Woods is increasing – and it's for good reasons! These clubs are great because they offer a wonderful combination of feel, distance and forgiveness.

They have 3 fairway-woods models in their latest G425 release. The Max (great option for all round), the LST, and the SFT are available. SFT and Max both appeal to the majority of players who are looking for more forgiveness on fairway shots. If you don’t mind the draw-biased element, I would 100% recommend the Max fairway tool.

This is my honest assessment of the Ping G425 max fairway woods. Ping no longer uses the "ribbed" design of their G series timbers. I have to admit, it's kinda nice. I love the G425 fairwaywoods with their smoother appearance. Ping has replaced the ribbed patterns with three tiny alignment dots. These help to ensure you're squared up at address.

Looking at the bottom of the clubhead, you'll see the weight placement – low and back. That's a clear giveaway of a forgiving, high launching design. Overall, the black/grey combination is my favourite.

The sole's shape is also important. Ping's fairway woods have adapted to flatten their soles. This makes them more forgiving when mishitting shots. You'll get punished if you hit the wrong spot with a more round sole. With a flat sole, misshits shots are still possible.

Let's get this straight. I can only speak from personal experience. If you are able, try the club out at your nearest range, or on a future demo day. While the Max may seem like the right one, there are many other options.

Ping G425 Max has a fantastic all-round performance and is great for fairway play. I hit the Ping G425Max Max 10 yards more than my 5-year-old Callaway model. In all honesty, if the Ping G425 Max was in my bag, I would probably choose the 4-wood to have greater distance gaps.
