These Clubs You Will Love!

To begin, I want to say this is my very first set of "real golf clubs". My previous set were 25 years old. Although I am not the most experienced reviewer, any new model would make a huge improvement. But I have tried many brands and other Ping models. Before purchasing the G425, I had tried several other Ping models. I have to say I am extremely happy with my purchase. They feel great and are super forgiving. They are also one of the most inexpensive of all major brands. It's easy to compare quality, price, appearance, and feeling ….. A set that includes 6 or more irons will come with free Arccos sensors. These sensors provide incredible information.

It is my recommendation.

It's Straight and Long

My old i20s were so worn out that I dreamt of getting new Ping irons. I was for the G425 irons with stiff graphite shafts and plus 1 degree of lie. There are about 10 inches of snow around, and I hit them right at the range. I am effortlessly hitting them straight and seemingly about 12-14 yards longer (simulator stats) I love the look and the loud boom when I crush one. We can't wait for spring to arrive.

Yes.

It is my recommendation.

Performance

Let's get right to the big question: did PING maintain the adjustability of the G410 Plus while also boosting the forgiveness? Yes. The G425 Max delivers on that promise in a big way.

The G425 Max was tested against my G410 Plus. It showed a marked difference in the G425 Max's superior forgiveness. Mishits with the G425 Max driver were consistently a little faster with more robust launch and spin numbers. On the course, that means there's less distance between your best swings and all the rest. If you compare the G425 Max to other products on the market, there aren't many that offer as much forgiveness. You want the most consistency from the driver of the G425Max.

This is impressive because the G425 Max achieves increased forgiveness and adjustability without losing any of its adaptability. You can still use eight of the original shafts with this adapter. Loft can be adjusted upwards or downwards by up to 1.5 degrees. The 26 gram weight in the back can be put in three positions – Fade, Neutral, or Draw. Each position has a noticeable impact on the ball flight and the position of the sweet spot.

PING, a world leader in custom-fitting offers many stock shafts with the G425 Max driver. These three models include the ALTA CB55Slate and Alta Distanza proprietary models. PING also has Aldila Rogue White 130 MSI and Mitsubishi TENSEI OAV Orange for those players looking to have a hot shaft.

Performance

This driver from PING G425 Max delivers the promised feature of its name. I saw a drop of about 200 RPM between the G425 Max and the G425 LST. You may experience a different mileage, so be sure to get fit before purchasing.

What has impressed me about PING's LST drivers is how they remain very forgiving and stable despite being lower spinning. Even though there's a minor trade off in forgiveness you don’t need to be an athlete with a disability to enjoy the G425LST. Even though the shot was hit off my heel, it had a respectable distance and the ball did not fly off the surface. Like its predecessor, the G425 LST has a spectacular forgiveness to looks ratio.

G425LST offers the same level of adjustability as G425Max. The loft can be adjusted as high or low as 1.5 degrees. It's important to not overlook the "Flat", as it is a great position for anyone who pulls their tee shots. There is also a weight in the back with three positions – Fade, Neutral, or Draw. While the LST is less than the Max (17 g vs. 26, g), the impact was still quite significant.

PING, like the G425 Max offers an extensive range of stock shafts with the G425LST driver. There are three proprietary models: ALTA CB 55 Slate, PING Tour, and Alta Distanza. PING offers two hot models for players who want a high-end shaft: the Aldila Rogue White 130 MSI (review HERE) and the Mitsubishi TENSEI Av Orange (55.5 and 65 grams).

Ping G425

4-LW Our take: Before buying irons, you must first start by assessing your own game. How can you improve your weak points? Ping's G425 is the right choice for anyone looking for a higher launch and greater distance. One tester noted that their higher launch was "a beautiful sight." Tech-packed irons can sometimes compromise in sensory categories. However, GOLF testers appreciated their soft sound and feel.

OUR TAKE: It is important to assess yourself before buying irons. Which are your strengths and what can you do to improve them? Ping's G425 irons fit the bill for those looking for higher launch and more distance. A tester commented that "the higher launch was something to see." Tech-loaded irons can sometimes compromise in sensory categories. However, GOLF testers appreciated their soft sound and feel. THE DETAILS. Perhaps the G425's irons behave more like metalwoods. Ping studied the designs of other metalwoods for inspiration to help improve G425's speed and height. The G425 irons use Variable Face Thickness (VFT), which is a thinner face in some areas. This increases speed. Ping additional weight in the toes and hosel to increase forgiveness was possible due to the weight saving from the face. See 150+ comments from Gear Club members. Details: Perhaps the G425 is more like a metalwood because it's what they were designed to be. Ping drew inspiration from fairways and successful drivers for the design of its G425 golf irons to boost speed and height. To increase speed, Ping uses Variable Face Thickness (VFT). This means that the face of certain parts is now thinner. Thanks to weight savings from the face, Ping was able to add extra weight into the hosel and toe sections to foster forgiveness.

It's likely that there won't be any wholesale changes when PING releases new drivers.

PING has a reputation for producing the very best drivers and doesn't intend to try to recreate the wheel.

*PING G425 drivers- FIRST LOOK

G425 will be the next generation of the iconic brand's engineering techniques. It builds on the same innovative designs and technologies that earned it such universal praise for its G400, G410 and G410 lines.

This year's standout piece is the new CG shifting device. This massive, moveable tungsten weight – placed at the extreme rear of the sole of the club – results in an equally extreme low and back CG (centre of gravity) placement.

Adjustability

Although I covered a large portion of the adjustability within these models, I want to talk about the hosel adjustability Ping titles "Trajectory Tuning2.0".

You can adjust the head loft as per most manufacturers by taking the head off and moving it to a different position on your hosel. You can adjust the head loft with ping.

One thing that is unique about Ping, and something I'll be discussing "almost", is the possibility to choose a flatter lie angle with neutral, +1, or -1 loft. This is beneficial not just for short golfers like me, it also benefits those looking to shallow out their angle of attack, in an effort to reduce spin loft and optimise launch conditions for their drives.

Because the Sure. Fit hosel adjustability from Titleist also has flat (and indeed upright) settings, but selecting these also automatically adjusts the loft and face angle.

The Golf Insider Verdict: Ping G425 Driver Review I could go on about the excellent new Ping G425 drivers in this review. The verdict? It's actually quite simple. It is the perfect driver for any golfer, and it comes at an incredible value.

Ping G425 Max provides exceptional forgiveness and distance. SFT drivers are a wonderful option for those who have trouble with their slice.

Ping G425 drivers would be a good choice next time you want to make an upgrade.

Ping G425 Crossover Review

PING is well-known for many things. While their heritage is the most important, recent years have seen them enjoy an inexorable flow of good feedback and great success with metalwoods. PING Crossover sits somewhere in the middle. Crossover was a club PING created to help them carve out their niche in the utility-iron segment.

Did they succeed? THP had the opportunity to receive the G425 Crossover from THP to try and answer this question.

Quick Take This utility is one-hundred percent more visually attractive than the PING Crossover. Easy to elevate, good ball speeds, but a feel that lands on the firm/sharp end of the spectrum, particularly on misses. People who have been familiar with this model will also find much to love in it.

Crossover PING G425 Crossover. I was given the chance to play with this Crossover model, which is a 2-2.5deg club and is intended as a replacement for the 4-iron. PING have made the Crossover a more playable model.

G425 Crossover's obvious lower center-of gravity has more weight toward the sole than standard irons to enhance launch. In order to improve stability, they have added tungsten in their perimeter weighting. The weight is visible in the toe using a screw. To increase ball speed, they have combined a hollow body with a miraging-steel face. They are aiming to make the irons faster while still being able and capable of delivering distance and spin.

It's hands down, the most beautiful version of PING we have ever seen. Black in the finishing was an intelligent decision as it gives off a more "slimming". From a visual perspective, the whole package still feels very PING. This includes the shape of the toe and the flow of offset. PING managed to do a good job here. Although it has a longer sole, the bottomline isn't as visible from address.

THP uses the PING G425 Crossover as a standard feature. It was also tested on a Foresight GC2 launcher monitor. I worked with the 4-Crossover paired with a Graphite Design Tour AD IZ shaft which provided a better overall fit for me. What I saw was an interesting mixture of things. It was solid performance-wise, but it had some unexpected feedback aspects.
