Ping I500 Irons Vs Taylormade P770

The TM P770s aimed to address the control issue of the TM790 irons. The TM P700 is a lighter iron with a shorter head profile that generates more spin. There is very little difference between the Ping i500 and TM P700 irons in terms of performance.

We recommend that you try them all, make sure they fit properly and choose the one that suits your needs best. Each will work well for you. See the TaylorMade full review.

The Best Set I Have Ever Purchased!

I am a Taylor loyalist of over 20 years. I wanted to buy the P790 irons… I saw some I500 reviews and fell in LOVE with the irons. So I finally decided to give the irons a go and went to Ping Sydney Australia for a proper fitting. It was a wonderful experience. Recoil780/F3. You are simply amazing with those shafts! I hesitated about G700 before finally choosing I500. I found it too tempting to not take the plunge. My trajectory is extremely high, and the distance was only one and half miles. It was a great feeling!

Yes.

This product is highly recommended by me.

ClubTester's 5-hdcp view: "Just goes for forever. It's hard to see the difference when you look at the profile. Hides the forgiveness well."

Robot's Take: An athlete who is high flying can distance iron better than the group average.

We admit that we favor irons that will help you improve your game. The Ping i500 irons are exactly that type of iron set.

If you are already scoring low and have a fast swing speed, you will immediately be able to take advantage of their superior distance and accuracy.

They may be less forgiving for novice and intermediate players but they will have more to offer as your game advances. We love them so much that we recommend the Ping i500.

Recommended Posts

Posted Hello All, Im leaning heavily on ordering some PIng I500 irons.

I used to be an AP2 player. I am looking for something that is a little more forgiving.

Looking for some long term real course reviews not launch monitor reviews.

A 3 – 6.0 PW Set would be more likely for me. I might also grab a pair if glide forged wedges.

Thanks

Expert Review: Ping I210 Irons and Ping I500 Irons

Ping's most recent additions to their Ping family are the Ping I210 and Ping i500 irons. We will take you through each club's construction details and their performance capabilities in the review.

A larger insert with custom tuning ports is featured. The insert is also 30% larger. Ping said the results resulted in 25% more face contact, and a smoother feeling during impact. With a compact design and minimal offset, the sole and leading edge are now more efficient and provide better turf interaction. Precision-milled i210 grooves ensure machine-like accuracy and consistent performance. The pitching wedge and U wedge replicate the Glide 2.0 grooves. A sharper edge radius and more precise groove spacing help to prevent fliers from scoring irons.

The i210 irons are gamers and designed for better players, but I believe players trending towards a single digit handicap will find these a very nice offering, too. +14 handicaps.

Wow! I love the Ping i210s irons. The moment the i210s arrived at my address, I was able to feel confident. Hydro-Pearl 2.0 looks smooth and durable. The Hydro-Pearl 2.0 finish has a white bottom line that stands out and aligns the address.

The toe's longer and more prominent mid-thickness topline has an elegant look that gives it an almost boxy appearance. Although the sole may not be as thin as true blades, its leading edge is defined and round. This creates an attractive visual of the impact and allows for interaction with the turf.

The feel and feedback are excellent. I knew exactly where I hit the ball and shots on the sweets spot were incredibly smooth. It improves the feel of your hands and removes all vibrations that cavity backs could make. I had no problem producing a repeatable slight draw that launched effortlessly. A shortened follow-through produced a flighted down ball flight without much hassle.

These irons have a smooth.0 feel and are worth looking at if you're searching for a brand new set of golf clubs or an improvement to your current one. You aren't going to find outrageous distances or maximum forgiveness from the midsized i210 clubhead, but you will find a consistency in distance, performance and feel in the highest order. I may need to make a tough decision about when my irons will be replaced.

Ping I500 irons design

Ping's G700 and i500 irons are very similar, largely thanks to the appearance and design of these muscleback options.

It has a lovely forged, muscleback appearance due to the offset. The club head however is hollow.

Ping i500s face is made out of C300 maraging iron, which flexes more on impact than earlier models. It combines with the 17-4 stainless steel body to produce what Ping describe as "metal-wood-like performance".

This comination improves ball speed and distance without any effect on forgiveness.

To increase ball flight's trajectory, the geometry of the Muscleback was created to enhance its performance.

Ping have used a Hydro. The irons have a Pearl Chrome 2.0 finish to ensure consistency in distance control and accuracy, especially when playing in the rough or wet.

Verdict of Ping I500 Irons

The i500 has a muscular look and ooze sex appeal. It will definitely be a hit with those golfers who love to appear the part, even though they are quite expensive.

The irons have more to them than looks. They are all about performance too, and the big standout with the i500 range is the distance that Ping have managed to add to them – so much so it can mean club selection is one less than in other models.

Ping i500s are more popular than the blade-playing pros because of their increased trajectory. Although they have a lot of forgiveness, their best feature is their impressive range.

Is it possible to forgive irons from Ping I500?

Although the sole can be forgiven for its size, it is capable of creating a substantial divot if necessary. Ping hollow irons can sometimes sound like metalwood. The i500, however, has an iron-like sound that we are relieved of.

Is Ping I500 good enough for high handicappers?

These benefit the golfer by providing greater distance on off-centre strikes, or essentially a larger sweet spot. While we would not recommend this for high handicappers, it will work well for a larger range of players than you may think. April 14, 2021

Are Ping I500 Blades?

We were told by Ping that the i500 were similar to the G700 irons but in a much more compact 'players' package. They are hollow, muscleback-style irons that have a clean appearance with minimal offset. The blade is also quite compact. Jul 16, 2018,… We carry the G400/i210, i500/i210 as well as G700 and G700.

Who Is Ping I500 For?

PING's Hydropearl 2.0 Chrome finish resists water and repels it for consistent shots in rough or wet grass. It also resists scratches and wear. Golfers seeking a classic, muscle-back iron with the best distance will love the PING I500 irons.
