It was a pleasure to try the TM P790, which I find is a good thing. After testing them against the 2017 model, overall I found them to be slightly longer – who knows, that 7% thinner face might have just given me 7% more distance.
My distance increased from 150 yards in 2017 to 156 yards due to my 2mph ball speed. The dispersion didn't change based on length. That is important since it doesn't matter if you gain yards or if the ball hits straight. The sound at impact can be a little quieter than indoors but is still not loud enough to make a difference.
If you aren't already gaming the 2017 version I would recommend trying these irons, but if you do have the 2017 models already then you have to ask yourself are they 24% (difference in price) better and justifying the money.
The 2017 and 2019 models have excellent irons. I do not feel the need for iron replacement every couple of years, as the distance technology isn't what I think is necessary.

Would I Use It?
These are clubs I would consider for my team. Since I tend to struggle with strikes rather than directions, these helped me look better.
I like irons at home and looking down upon them is another big deal for me. These look great and are ready to go. It's your choice whether you choose to move, but the fact that you like the look and the price is not too much of a concern is up to the buyer.

How does it all work?
Taylor, first and foremost. Made has kept their same name which is quite a talk point. They have confidence in their P790 iron, which shows how high-respected it is. There's no need to try and repair something that's not broken.
Taylor. Made tweaked the looks of the club by removing the full name of Taylor. Made was replaced with the company logo. Shiny sole and thinner top lines give the 2019 irons an extra premium appearance. They are definitely worth the extra effort, and these irons have serious shelf appeal.
The Speed technology improvement and a thinner face are the only technological improvements. Foam injections into the heads. This is said to increase ball speed and improve feel on both solid strikes and off-centre hits.
Taylor has also included Taylor's feature on the longer irons. Made claims that its Speed Pocket is the most flexible. This Speed Pocket is specifically designed to increase ballspeeds while allowing for shots that are lower up on the face. The idea is to stop that nasty stinger from being too strong.
Taylor. Made has also added a 15% more heavy tungsten weight to the head. This is intended to raise the launch angle and make the ball fly faster.
Who are These Irons Used For?
These irons are not designed to improve your game and they are not suitable for handicappers who are beginners. What are the most important things to look for in an iron set?
