Performance

All it takes to be an elite driver comes down to ball speed. The goal of elite drivers is to achieve maximum ball speed, with the highest strikes possible. However, you want to preserve as much information as possible if the strike falls short. Mizuno ST200 is not an elite player in both these areas.

For clarity, the ST200 driver is not terrible. It’s fine. You can play it if you have to. However, the ST200 has not been a great option after a year of MAVRIK drivers (reviews HERE ), Tour Edge Exotics EXS 220 reviews HERE, and PING G410 Plus review HERE.

It is remarkable that the ST200 driver can maintain ball speed well, but it has good launch and spin. My drives were predictably sent on the same trajectory with the same strong ball flight even when the strike wasn’t ideal.

Mizuno ST200’s lack of options for shafts is perhaps the worst thing. Mizuno doesn’t offer golfers any choice, unlike other manufacturers who have three or more standard shafts. The Diamana Red S+ is the best choice for a normal flex. For stiffness, the Diamana Blue S+ will do. You’re done.

Would I Use It?

Mizuno drivers. It performs great and looks amazing.

I have to admit that I doubted whether the ST200 range would be good enough to compete with the likes of TaylorMade, Callaway, Ping and Titleist before I took the headcover off it, but wow was I proved wrong!

I’d be happy to take the ST200G Driving Test.

Mizuno St200 Driver Review

Club Fitter Mizuno was founded by Justin Pahl. Their irons were a long-standing trademark. More specifically the way their irons feel. The irons of these tour pros, who call themselves “free agents”, are used by them. This “free agent” doesn’t have to sign any clubs contracts. They can choose what they want. It is very pleasing to club manufacturers when tour pro’s choose their product for its performance and feel, rather than because they earn a salary. Mizuno has always put out “Tour Ready” irons year in and year out. The ST200 series is Mizuno’s latest driver line.

The new 2020 Mizuno driver lines are the ST200G ST200G ST200X and ST200X. Mizuno patented the saying, “Nothing feel like a Mizuno”. This is evident by each driver’s appearance, sound, and feeling. Now the question remains: Can these new drivers live up to the Tour Ready standard of their irons? These drivers can be confidently confirmed that they meet that standard. You’ll see the data later on in this review to support this assertion.

You can choose from three styles of heads to allow the ST200 line cover many playing levels and different ball flight options. The ST200 head offers low spin forgiveness and is super stable at mid/low speed. With a Beta rich forged Ti face (17% stronger compared to their last driver line the ST190), an 11.6g backweight (stabilizes the head) and the ability to adjust the loft a total of 4 degrees, gives us a great “Tour Ready” product that’s easy to hit and pretty to look at. It has the same Beta rich, forged Ti face as their ST190G. This is extremely quick but gives off a soft and lively feeling. Two adjustable weight tracks allow for spin optimization from low to high. Last but not least, the ST200X drives a high level of launching draw. The ST200X’s fixed heel weight and upright lie angle, which is a better option than the two other models, makes it a great choice for players who want a fast draw flight. Carbon composite crowns give the ST200G/ST200G a low CG, which allows for high launch and low spin.

This test was conducted to find out if Mizuno’s ST190 series, their solid driver, has seen any improvements. I would like to see an improvement in ball speed and proper launch conditions. I was only able to test the ST200 and ST200G. However, the ST200X is still not available for me to try. Atmos Black Tour Spec 6X shaft was what I used. I used the 9*ST00G to turn down to 7*, while the 9.5*ST200 to turn down to 7.5*. Because I am a more spin-oriented player than most, having lofts that low optimizes my launch conditions for these drivers and allows them to give me the best shot. Six shots were taken with each driver. Below is the information:

Driver Club Headspeed Ball Speed Speed Launch Angle Spin Rate

ST190 16.2 mph 168.1 mph 13.1*2625 rpm 289.5Yds

ST200 117.0 mph 170.0mph 12.6*2503rpm 292.5yds

Mizuno St200 Driver Review, Photos And More: Clubtest 2020

For ClubTest 2020, we tested and reviewed 28 new drivers to help you find the right one for your game. Here are the results of the Mizuno ST200 driver.

Prices: 400$ / BUY HERE Lofts: 10.5deg, 9.5deg. Our Take: Beta Rich Forged titanium is 17 percent more strong than other materials and retains its performance for longer periods of time. A compacted Wave Solle saved weight and allowed the addition of an 11-gram backweight, which produces a balanced spin/forgiveness. Available in adjustable-weight ST200G and draw-bias ST200X. Higher-level players will love the flatter crowns, and greater lie angles.

ClubTester’s take (8-hdcp): “Classic looks combined with new-age tech. The result is outstanding!
