Performance

The driver of the PINGG425 LST delivers its named feature. The G425 LST driver and G425 Max had a decrease of 200 RPM. Like all things, mileage is subject to change so ensure you are fit before making a purchase.

PING LST drivers have impressed me with their ability to remain stable and forgiving even when they are spinning lower. There is a slight tradeoff in forgiveness but you don’t have to be handicapped to play the G425LST. Even when I hit shots off the heel, the distance was very respectable and the ball didn’t fly off the planet. Like its predecessor, the G425 LST has a spectacular forgiveness to looks ratio.

G425LST has the same considerable adjustability that the G425 Max driver. Loft can be adjusted up or down as much as 1.5 degrees. It’s important to not overlook the “Flat”, as it is a great position for anyone who pulls their tee shots. Also, there is a weight on the back, with 3 positions: Draw, Neutral and Fade. Although the LST weight is slightly lighter than that of the Max (17 g vs. 26 g), I found its impact significant.

Also like the G425 Max, PING offers a great array of stock shafts in the G425 LST driver. There are three proprietary models: ALTA CB 55 Slate, PING Tour, and Alta Distanza. PING offers the Aldila Rogue White130 MSI and Mitsubishi TENSEI OAV Orange for those players looking to have a hot shaft.

The Test

Ping allowed me to go to October and get fitted for the best shaft length. Although I was not allowed to use the G425, I tried the G410 heads. I found that the LST 9 degrees was the best for me. I also used a Ping Tour65 shaft. So when I received the G425 Driver it was the LST model with the same shaft, giving me the club that is best suited to me so that I could give a true evaluation.

Comparing the driver to the G410 LST in LSH Auto, Mercedes Benz Stockport and using Trackman 4 with Titleist Pro V1x ball I found that it was a lot more consistent than the G410 LST. Reddish Vale Golf Club hosted me to play a couple of rounds and to decide if the driver was good enough to be considered for my bag.

Important Disclaimer

We have found that high spin drivers perform better with fast swingers that hit the ball hard.

But, you should remember that positive angle golfers naturally have higher spin rates. To determine if you require a low-spin head or not, a professional fitting by a clubfitter is necessary. It is important that you know what your spin rates are and how they launch to help you decide whether the Ping G425LST Driver will suit your needs.

Was that clear? Let me repeat that again.

Without a clear idea of your current spin, it is difficult to determine if you will need a low spin driver. Find a local golf club fitter, who is well-respected by the area’s golfers.

Ok, now we are ready for the Ping G425 LST Driver Overall Performance & Appearance Ping’s drivers are top notch. G400 and G410 have proven to be outstanding as all-around drivers. And the G425 is no exception. They are almost identical, and you will save money if you choose the older model.

Ping G425LST drivers look just like all the models except that it is smaller. LST’s head is 445cc, while SFT and MAX have 460cc. Low-spin head designs are more compact than some others.

The clubhead looks larger because it has the dragonfly logo on the all black crown. It’s amazing for extra forgiveness as you stand over the golf ball from the tee box.

The Ping G425 Drivers

Ping G425 is the latest generation of its immensely popular G series. The Ping G driver was the first to get it all started in 2016. Ping G was the first driver to drive their club in 2016. Ping continues to refine, tune, and improve its performance year after year while keeping a simple premise. Offering a blend of power, distance, and a fair helping of forgiveness when you need it most.

All of us need to be forgiven after a long, difficult par five. It’s a fact.

The drivers for this year will offer a few new features. Notice that I did not say anything different. Ping has shown a fair amount of restraint and held back against the golf industry’s tendency to add as many buzzwords and gimmicks as it can.

Let us suppose you have ever played with Ping Drivers in any way over the last five year. These drivers will be familiar to you, with some minor changes that could make them a strong favorite during the coming golf season.

The Ping G425MAX is the first driver I will be focusing on. It promises to be a great all-around driver. Then we will move to SFT and LST drivers. We’ll discuss their differences, and decide which club is best for each.

Let’s get to it… G425 max driver review The Ping G425 basic version of this trio-driver system is called the ‘vanilla” version.

But, you can forget that. “Vanilla” doesn’t really do this club justice. You will find a lot of features, which all come together to create a wonderful whole.

With the G425 line-up, the brand has decided to once again stick to its tried and tested engineering practices by effectively building upon the same brilliant designs and technologies that brought its previous G400 and G410 families such universal acclaim.

The CG-shifter, which is new technology that stands out this time, remains the best piece. This massive, moveable tungsten weight – placed at the extreme rear of the sole of the club – results in an equally extreme low and back CG (centre of gravity) placement.
