Pxg driver review: The new Pxg0811X is better than its predecessor?

This PXG Driver Review was written by Breaking Eighty Contributor Blake Doll.

Parsons eXtreme Golf (PXG), one of the hottest golf brands, has risen rapidly to become one top-selling club manufactures in golf.

Bob Parsons is the founder and owner of the club. He’s a straight-shooting Texan businessman.

Their irons are some of, if not the very best in the game. Many members have fallen in love with the Eighty Club and were able to stay fit.

However, it was important to me to understand how PXGs groundbreaking technology can be applied to long-game drivers.

I’ve not spoken to as many people gaming the PXG0811X, their second generation driver.

It’s a great tool, so I have been using it and realized that it was time to share the results with you.

Review of the Pxg 0811X Generation 2 Driver

PXG have been an unstoppable force in the world of golf ever since their debut, with innovative marketing techniques, distinctive pricing and a lot more than the usual. We review the PXG 0811x-Gen 2 driver to see if it lives up.

PXG Irons are game-changers that offer forgiveness, feel, power and other benefits than any other irons. But their first two lines have been only okay. It’s not great. PXG prices demand extraordinary performance. PXG’s 0811 driver was spunny. The 0811x driver however, had a small sweet spot where it could get maximum performance. The Fairway hybrids and woods are stronger than the 0811x driver, while the PXG 0811x had a narrow sweet spot to get the most out of the driver. However the brand’s new 0811XGen 2 woods is a major game changer for Arizona. It is a great choice not only for its performance, as it is, but also because of the incredible price. The RRP at PS550 brings the club right back in the mix. It’s still the most costly mainstream driver but it is now only fractionally more than TaylorMade and Callaway drivers, making it an attractive contender.

What makes the Pxg0811X Gen2 stand out from all other options?

The PXG 0811x Generation 2 driver review examines the differences between it and other drivers. The heads have Variable Face Technology, which increases ball speed when there are misses. There is also a Honeycomb TPE insert. The lightweight material fine-tunes the sound and feel but does it without adding too much weight to the clubhead. The driver line includes 2 drivers. O811x design is low spin, while the 0811XF model is for more forgiveness. There are also matching fairway woods, and hybrids. PXG 0811x Gen 2’s review revealed that the face is deeper and slightly more compact from head to tail. The X is lightweight-forward for ball speed and low spin. The X has 9 interchangeable weights, so that shot shape can be changed. Ports are located in both the front and rear of the head. Also, weight ports near the heel add bias to draw.

The XF features a shorter head from front to back. The XF is lighter and has the best overall MOI. It’s right at the limit of 5900 R&A and more than 10,000 MOI when including the sole crown MOI. Ping G400 Max offers similar forgiveness, with a higher centre of gravity. Super forgiving, and relatively low spin, who wouldn’t want that? The technology used in hybrids and fairways is the same, however they are constructed from steel instead of titanium. Although the fairway head may be a little small, it is very easy to hit. PXG is now on a third consecutive hybrid. In our opinion, we believe it has a great combination of head shape, size, ease of use, and adjustability.

The Verdict

Two times now I have reviewed the PXG0811x Gen 2 in detail and can say that it’s a wonderful driver. I love the sound and feel of this driver. It is quieter and more powerful than the PXG drivers, although it sounds a lot livelier. Furthermore, miss-hits feel comfortable and keep the ball moving at a high speed. Although the crown design is unusual, it doesn’t look bad and helps line up along the fairway. While the X alignment doesn’t appeal to me personally, some golfers might like it. Perhaps PXG could offer an option to use no alignment aid. I’m not surprised that they would. The adjustable hosel does work for lowering the flight, and playing about with the weights did seriously affect the spin rate. The heel setting was not tested as I have trouble with the ball leaving. While it wasn’t the driver I ended up with, ball speeds were up there with the best drivers the year, and spin rates weren’t excessive. Although it wasn’t the driver I chose, it was close enough that I would consider this my second choice. The leather headcover is a great finishing touch, and it’s these extras that make PXG stand out, even now when their prices don’t. The cost of a driver with PXG will not be considered if they are the best for you. That hurdle has now been removed from the equation.

Can Pxg Drivers Be Trustworthy?

Thanks to its titanium face and Hybrid Crown Construction, the 0211 driver is able to produce a lot of this on both center and outside. This driver is stable. When I kept my ball in the center of the face the ball speeds were always high. It is evident how straight and stable the 0211 is. Jan 25, 2021

What are the best Pxg 0811 drivers for driving?

The sound and feel are similar to the PXG0811 driver’s look. However, they are not unique. With medium volume, the sound at impact produces a middle-pitch pop. The feedback about impact location is better than average. It is true that the 0811 does feel great when your heart is pure.
