It was possible to compare the SIM MAX driver to the SIM MAX in the same loft using the same shaft. It was easy to compare the different models. It was the launch at a higher level that stood out. The SIM was low launching, but the SIM MAX launched in the low end of my normal window. The SIM MAX launches at mid spin while the SIM MAX launches at low spin.
SIM MAX seemed to have a higher forgiveness score than SIM. The SIM MAX had a slightly higher ball speed and accuracy. Subjectively, I felt that I got better results from my bad swings with the SIM MAX.
Progressive Face Heights is a new feature for the SIM driver group. TaylorMade examined the effects of impact points and handicaps to design the drivers. The SIM driver is the smallest, meant for the best players. SIM Max D features a face that is 8 percent larger than the SIM Max, and 18% more. Putting these drivers next to each other, the difference is obvious, and players should consider their visual preference when deciding between these clubs.
As to whether the SIM MAX is a substantial upgrade over last year’s M6, my answer is “No” (M6 driver review HERE ). Both drivers are very good – forgiving without a bunch of bells and whistles – but there’s nothing I see in the SIM that makes it a necessary upgrade if you’re gaming the M6.

The SIM Max shares the same cutting-edge technologies that define the SIM family of drivers including the asymmetric sole and Inertia Generator. But with a larger club face and deeper center of gravity, it delivers more MOI and forgiveness and is aimed at higher handicaps.

Taylormade Sim Driver Verdict
Before this review started, I expected the SIM to be my choice. I will admit that I wasn’t 100% sure. Sometimes the spin was too slow for me to swing at a lower speed.
What impressed me most about the SIM Max was not being able to capture one. The distance I was able to see from the SIM Max never fell, even though it had a very high spin rate (over 3000 RPM).
It was surprising that the mid-range driver performed so well, even though it had to be set to lower spin. The Inertia Generator in the back added flight to the ball, but did not affect spin.
The Inertia Generator’s angle and shape made it difficult for me to see an increase in swing velocity. The 20-degree angle of inertia generator is still elusive to me. You may see it in TaylorMade laboratories or at a club where DJs are swinging it “in the slots”, but I don’t think it has the same effect on everyone.
Why this club is the best
I was offered a good deal and Taylormade appealed to me so I decided I would buy the club. They already have wedges that I own and I love them. I thought the driver might be as happy.
I considered buying the Callaway Mavrik but in the end, I chose the SIM Max because of the price point and all the positive reviews online. As a teenager who was hungry, the Mavrik wasn’t as long-range, so I decided to go with something more.
Verdict
Although the SIM name doesn’t have quite the same ring as the M-Series, it is certainly visually appealing.
The SIM family has a stunning design. We also love how it grows with you, just like we say in the video.
Address, it is our absolute favourite driver. The chalk white top line works beautifully in contrast with the carbon crown and it’s great to see how such a minor change can make such a big difference to the eye.
From a performance aspect, TaylorMade never lets you down when it comes to drivers.
My club’s speed was slightly increased by the slightly-angled Inertia Generator. Both SIM Max and SIM Max both produced extremely promising results.
The SIM driver has a very low spin driver, which produced an excellent ball flight. However the SIM Max had a slightly higher spin driver and gave me more control.
Although the SIM Max is more flexible, it was still my favorite driver. It gave me the same distance as a large stick.

These models have not seen any significant upgrades
The SIM and SIM Max drivers will soon be made available. Although the speed injected twist technology has not changed, it still exists. The MOI sole weight is also unchanged. It’s just been implemented slightly differently. SIM Max remains the focus of the review. The SIM Max does have a smaller face but has more adjustability.
This driver’s first impression was undoubtedly its stunning looks. The bottom of the head has been cleaned up a bit since its predecessor, and the dark, metallic colors come together to form a sharp, aesthetically pleasing design.
TaylorMade claims that the driver offers more performance and has optimized its sole weight for a higher MOI. It is hoped that the swing will become more aerodynamic and thus, faster. Also, the launch conditions for this model are slightly different to previous ones.
TaylorMade liked the face-to-face interaction of M drivers, so they haven’t made any significant changes to speed injected facial twist technology. The ball shoots up off your face and is designed to assist you if you hit the ball in areas that are usually problematic. The sound is also amazing.
TaylorMade is a great driver, and it’s not hard to see how they have been able increase ball speeds throughout the years. But now there are diminishing returns. The new soleweight seems to be a significant improvement, though it is still a powerful driver. However, most players may not notice any difference.
Last Thoughts
TaylorMade appears to be an innovator in the field of golf club technology. The SIM Max, with its intelligent MOI weight, tried and true speed injected face, and sharp aesthetic, is a superb driver. If you are a professional player and believe that you would be more successful with this club, then it is for your benefit.
You can join the fun even if you are a higher handicapper. Although the clubface is optimized for speed it has been designed to be forgiving. The carefully placed CG can help you get just the right amount.
The SIM Max will not make any significant changes to your TaylorMade M5 and M6 games. However, this SIM Max driver is very reliable.

It was designed to give golfers more forgiveness. You can adjust the additional weight of 20 grams by using the inertia engine at the back.
The weight of the additional track to the rear increases Moment of Inertia. An increased M.O.I. It allows for greater forgiveness as well as high launch.
